Among all the religions in the world, I find Buddhism one of the most spiritual ones. I have always felt a connection with the teachings of this wonderful religion which spread just peace and harmony. And, since I was in Singapore, therefore I preferred visiting first a monastery rather than any shopping malls, zoological park, or famous restaurant. Hence, my first destination was the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery.

The Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery is located in Bishan, Singapore. It was established during the year 1920, and since then, it has turned out to be one of the symbols of peace and harmony in Singapore. After checking into the hotel, we charged ourselves up by taking a shower and having breakfast in the in-house restaurant of the hotel. By the time we left our hotel room, it was more or less 11 in the morning.

From our hotel, we hired a cab and asked the chauffer to drive us to the monastery. Being one of the least corrupted countries in the world, we didn’t have to worry much about being looted due to overcharging by the taxis and autos. It is needless to mention that the cleanliness and modernity of the public roads in Singapore impressed us completely. Be it the skyscrapers or the public buses, everything about Singapore is simply marvelous.

It hardly took more than an hour to reach the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery. I and my husband were completely in love with the structure of the monastery, right from the first look itself. The crowd was not too huge, but a decent one. As we entered into its premises, we felt something absolutely different. The tranquility and positive atmosphere of this century old monastery was truly amazing.
Apart from being the largest monastery in the entire Singapore, it is one the most beautiful one perhaps. It took us nearly two hours to explore the entire structure, which comprised of crematorium, columbarium, prayer halls and stupas. Without any doubt, it was the perfect way to start our holiday in Singapore.
