Manta Point- Maldives - Lifelong Experience to Cherish

Manta Point in the Maldives is commonly known as Hanifaru on Baa Atoll. This is an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and just permits snorkeling. Manta Point is a diving area where one can enjoy seeing large numbers of manta rays being fed and cleaned by wrasses. I booked my visit through the resort so that a piece of the expense goes towards the ecological upkeep of the reserve.

It's essential to go at the right phase of the tide at the ideal time of year. For Manta Point, the ideal time of the year is May-November at the time of the West Monsoon. The purpose behind this is that there are great opportunities to discover mantas here, sustaining on the plankton rich water going out of atoll. Along the reef top I could simply find the moray, scorpion fish, octopus and substantial napoleon wrasse.

From the Maradhoo harbor to the dive site it would take around 35 minutes; I meanwhile listened to the dive instructions. The dhoni, a local dive boat, stopped initially at the Maa Kandu channel and the chief gave the sign to enter the water.

Our gathering of eight divers was separated into two groups of four, each with a dive guide. We dropped down onto the sand by an expansive rock. Off and on again there was very much a solid current so we needed to cling; at different times it was calm. We held up patiently underwater for the mantas to come.

We saw and snorkeled with more or less 30 mantas, all of which were around 3-4 meters in size. All the mantas sailed to all directions with their giant mouths completely open not beyond a couple of feet of us. With little concern, we looked fearing and at the same time stunning for we had never had such an experience.

We looked for more than 30 minutes; a few mantas come so close that I could see their eyes from a safe distance, an experience so stunning that for a few moments I simply forgot to breathe. While we were down there, there were many to see other than the mantas, an experience of a life-time, which must be accepted.

Being an island country, I had my plans cut out at Maldives. A place filled with beaches, I started off for my next exciting destination - Alimatha Island, Maldives. I was wonderstruck when I reached the place for the nature was incredibly beautiful and for sure, any honeymooners or vacationers would agree with me that it is the most beautiful place on the earth.

Alimatha is in Vaavu Atoll and sits on the eastern edge of Maldives roughly 4 degrees north of the equator. Alimatha Island is rich with lavish vegetation and enclosed by beautiful sites such as Dewana Kandu National Park. Getting to the Maldives isn’t difficult, I have booked direct flight from Delhi, so there was no need to change planes or have a long delay.

Once I arrived there, getting to Alimatha Island isn’t difficult. I had a few choices that I could take a seaplane or a speedboat. However, traveling by a cab or other motor vehicles was out of question since I have to hop from one island to another island.

Alimatha Island offered some incredible places to stay. And among the few, Alimatha Aquatic Resort was a popular one. The Alimatha Island is famous for its popular diving locations in the whole world, like Myaru Kandu and Fotteyo Kandu. Diving in the Maldives is a true pleasure; the sheer quantity of dive sites, easy access/proximity to dive sites, abundant and often rare marine fauna makes it an incredible dive area.

Alimatha is the complete Maldivian destination for all tourists because it has everything: world-level diving for both experienced and starters, Ayurvedic massage centre, water sports corner with windsurfing, canoeing and cat sailing, main restaurant and a specialty one.

The Alimatha Island is a magnificent choice for a vacation because it provides a lot of natural beauty as well as the seclusion, which a lot of people are looking for when it comes to the vacation. No doubt, anyone who wants to enjoy time with loved ones, or is looking for a great place to have wedding or honeymoon, the Alimatha Island is a best choice.

Mulee Aage Maldives – Known For its Historical Importance

After visiting other places like Islamic centre my next place to visit in my list was Muliaage. I enquired from the locals and found that Muliaage was appointed by Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddeen III for his child and beneficiary Prince Hassan Izzuddin.

The place is situated just against the presidential jetty and it was built in the style of cabins during pilgrim time in Ceylon, and was finished for the Prince Hassan Izzuddin who was returning from  the royal College of Colombo after his education.  The development of Muliaa'ge, was started in the year 1914 and finished in 1919.

Mulle which means new house was once the maternal home of Sham sudden and was then given to “SultanMuhammad Shamsuddeen III” who was the last possessor.  It remained with the Huraa Dynasty rulers throughout its history.  After a long period of disuse, the first president of the second republic, “Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefan” acknowledged this place as the Presidential Palace again the year in 1968.

He used this place as the temporary residence at Muliaa’ge when his house was under construction. After 1986, the government of Maldives used this place for conducting official meeting and as office. The outstanding carvings are truly attractive and it magnetizes several tourists from all over the world.

I was really fascinated by the architectural beauty of this structure. I feel very lucky to choose this place as I love visiting historical places, museums, national parks and all. Tourists who are in love with structural engineering and architecture must visit the place. The historical richness of the place attracts most of the tourists here. I feel the tourist must visit the national museum first and then come to the place. This will help in better understanding the importance of Muliaage.

Interestingly the place is completely well secured by military guards. Though the building has a beautiful ambience, visitors are not allowed often for safety purpose. This place is the most significant and nicest places among the other castles, museums and mosques in Maldives; hence, a visit to Muliaage made me happy and contented.
