Well, the next destination in my list was Peranakan Museum in Singapore. The reason I have chosen a museum is due to my interest in knowing the history of various cultures. The hotel staffs were kind enough to get me a cab by 10 am. I and my husband reached the museum within 40 minutes and were excited to explore the ancient history of Singapore.

When we stepped inside we have found the most extensive and vast collection of unique Peranakan artefacts that portrayed the rich tradition of different cultures including Malay, Indian, Chinese, South East Asia and Singapore. The heritage of each country was simply impressive and we were amazed to know how each country is connected with each other since so many ages.

Not just children but even adults were enjoying learning various elements through exhibits that were a blend of ancient art and exclusiveness of the past. There are three floors with galleries representing practices, culture and rituals of Peranakans along with fusion traditions as well. We had an educational experience here; there were even few merchandise stores from where I bought interesting pieces for my home.

If you are lucky enough then you can enjoy a program which happens twice a year. The exhibitions will give you a perfect picture of South East Asian tradition and heritage. The museum is considered as National Heritage and is counted under Asian civilizations.

The museum is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Fridays it is open till 9 pm. There are even cost efficient packages if you come in groups or families. Different stages of the Peranakan life are depicted from infanthood to adulthood in the galleries, which included wedding events, food, feasting, religion, fashion and language, and public life of the people.

The people can actually compare the modern life with the ancient and see how vast is the evolvement. The museum is located in a national place, Tao Nan School. The design of the building is a replica of the time of French Renaissance.

So, on a final note, I had a great learning experience here and I request my readers to check out this place when they are in Singapore.
