We heard from various sources that Singapore has many old churches and every tourist must visit them when they are here. So, we made a decision to visit Armenian Church that was constructed in the year 1835. Well, it is indeed an old church! We started from our hotel at 11 am and it took about 60 minutes for us to reach the place.

The first look of the white monument gave us a pure feeling much before we entered the place. We have learned the history of the church from the locals and found it to be pretty vast and quite intriguing as well.

The architecture, design and construction of the Armenian Church are planned cleverly. The entire place including the garden and parsonage is simply beautiful. When we entered the main place of the church, we were happy to look at the traditional architecture of Armenians. There is a painting of Last Supper above the altar, of Jesus Christ and Apostles.

The exterior of the church is designed in a way that it focuses on the safety issues as well. The elegant look of the church pulls number of locals and tourists towards it each day, and still it gives out the feel of ancient culture of 1800s. Simple marvellous!

The calmest area in the church was the Garden. It was built in the memory of great Armenians who lost their lives. As per the historical texts, tombstones were brought from Bukit Timah Cemetery in 1970s by Leon Palian. A petite sanctuary is built here to mark the socio economic ties of Singapore.

I and my husband found tranquillity here, and thought of sitting for a while to pay homage to the great people of the past. Here, we actually realized how fast the life goes on, and we easily forget the people who gave us such peaceful life.

The sun was about to set, and we had to leave the place and plan the next day with some destination filled with fun. We took a local transport to our hotel, and on the way we discussed how serene the day was well spent.
